We can’t recommend visiting the Poppy factory highly enough. We learnt about the history of the remembrance Poppy (a corn poppy) and the factory, then had an opportunity to make a poppy or two. The work that they do in supporting disabled veterans to find employment is incredible.
Every poppy sold by the Royal British Legion for Remembrance Sunday is created at the factory together with most of the wreaths laid at the cenotaph and the petals used at the festival of remembrance. Each member of the royal family has their own wreath design.
The factory will be closing for a year in November for renovations so there will be no more visits during this time.
